We clearly live in interesting times. While this may have been viewed as a curse in the past, it is certainly creating enough cannon fodder for the media outlets to keep people riveted to the news of what’s happening next with the Corona Virus. But, what does this have to do with identity management and a CISO’s strategy for ensuring corporate security? The answer is much more than you may have previously considered.
Pandemic Forces Work From Home
The World Health Organization Director-General characterized COVID-19 (AKA the Corona Virus) as a pandemic as of March 11, 2020. In addition to the typical panic that spreads due to fears of contagions, many companies have started to implement work from home policies to protect their employee base and hopefully prevent the spread of the virus. An article on the BusinessInsider.com website titled “Apple, Google, and Amazon are among the largest global companies who have restricted travel or asked their employees to work remotely as a precaution against the novel coronavirus. Here's the full list.” reported:
“As the coronavirus spreads across other parts of Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the US, major companies like Microsoft, Hitachi and Chevron are asking their workers to work remotely as a measure against the rapidly-spreading disease.
Similarly, major companies like Twitter, Apple, and Nestlé are restricting all non-essential business travel to keep the virus from spreading.”
The good news is that research has shown that working from home reduces stress and creates a more satisfied employee that is less likely to quit. A Fortune Magazine article titled “Coronavirus may finally force businesses to adopt workplaces of the future” has this to say:
“To protect their workforce, firms are asking people to work at home. Our new research shows that more flexible work policies that give workers more control over when, where, and how they work don’t hurt business performance. Instead, such policies can lead to less stressed, more satisfied employees who are less likely to quit.”
The bad news is that the likelihood for identity fraud increases with use of bring your own device (BYOD) as most companies do not have enough corporate laptops to accommodate every employee’s requirements to work remotely.
Immutable Identity From Anywhere
Fundamentally what is needed is a solution that can ensure an employee’s digital identity is immutable. And ultimately, the only thing about you that is immutable is your behavior, or more specifically, your digital behaviors. How and when you access technology and applications, how fast you type, where you are, what time you are doing specific things. These behavioral characteristics can be securely tracked while maintaining anonymity and privacy using the latest in AIML technology in order to define your immutable identity.
The good news here is that these solutions are not device dependent and can still maintain privacy while ensuring continuous authentication across corporate resources.
Acceptto Is Immutable
Acceptto is built on the premise that your credentials today, and those that you’ve yet to create, have already been compromised. Your identity cannot simply be based on a password or a one-time token or only your biometrics. Your immutable identity is a combination of your physical behaviors, attributes and digital DNA. We call it Continuous Behavioral Authentication. You can eliminate preventable harm with our Biobehavioral AIML technology that enables frictionless authentication, prevents credentials stuffing instantaneously, ensures your true immutable identity continuously, and dramatically reduces risk, likelihood of fraud and cost of helpdesk operations without the guesswork or latency.
See for yourself what Acceptto can do to ensure your employees, partners and customers can authenticate without passwords and still ensure security and privacy. Register for a free trial today.
